While hip pain is quite common in older people, it can affect all ages, including children. Hip pain can occur due to numerous reasons and in this blog we will first cover a few main symptoms you may be having so you can understand and identify when it’s time to see a professional for hip pain. We will also discuss some ways that chiropractic services can help relieve some of that pain and discomfort that exists in your hip joints.

Here are a few common reasons you may be suffering from hip pain is:

  1. Bursitis- is a condition when the bursa which is a fluid sac that normally surrounds your hip joint becomes inflamed, this could be a reason why you are experiencing tightness and pain. You should note that there are bursa sacs around numerous joints in your body. They are meant to protect your bones and joints by adding cushion and to relax tension or friction while your body moves. However bursitis commonly occurs when you put a lot of pressure on the joint or from repetitive actions. Some of these things could include squatting, laying to one side of your body for a long time, falling on your hip, or even bumping hard into an object.

  2. Osteoarthritis -The cartilage around the joints weakens and thins leaving pain in the hip area because they are not as well supported. This typically occurs as we age.

  3. Overuse and Muscle Soreness-  Similar to Bursitis it can happen when you're putting stress on your joints or repeating the same workouts to an extreme. This could be an issue if you are very active. You may have torn or bruised the muscles in your hip joint.

  4. Transient Osteoporosis- this can occur to middle age men or to pregnant females. This issue is reversible however it is more rare. If you are having trouble walking or putting weight on your hips due to extreme pain this could be the case and it's due to temporary bone loss.

A Chiropractor can help you relieve some of the pain that is trapped in your hip joints by:

  1. Helping you develop a stretching and exercise plan

  2. By performing spinal adjustments

  3. Creating a new nutritional plan

  4. Discuss lifestyle adjustments
